About the Sustainable Steel Community Cohort
The SSCC aims to support the steel industry by helping bring the benefits of sustainable steel to NW Indiana and increasing good-paying union jobs. Upgrading plants takes community support, investment, and advocacy.
By combining political education and storytelling, participants will develop a vision for growing the local economy, protecting worker health, and addressing industrial impacts on land, water, air, and community health.
The cohort will take place over five months in 2024, starting in June, with 16 participants. Each class will be a half-day on a Saturday, in person, in Northwest Indiana.
This cohort is supported by Indiana Conservation Voters, Citizens Action Coalition, Mighty Earth, and led by Industrious Labs.
